Dynamite Data Management

We have been busy working on some of the expectations from the Data Management strand of the Grade 2 Math Curriculum.
*Students have sorted various objects by single 'attributes' such as colour, shape, size or number of holes.
*We learned how to sort objects with more than one attribute in mind by using a Venn diagram.
*We sorted buttons and alphabet letters using this new knowledge.
*We practiced making tallies (bundles of 5) and counting these bundles using our ability to count by 5s.
*We asked our friends survey questions and organized information (data) by tallying.
*We sorted, tallied and created simple graphs to show how many objects were in our graphing bags.
*We are learning how to interpret data that is represented in tallies and graphs.  We know how to determine which part of our data is most or least and which parts have the same.  Next, we will learn how to compare different parts of the data (example:  red had 5 more than green).
*We will also look more closely at the specific parts of a graph (title, labels, scale, interpretations)
